Echoes of Empathy
Echoes of Empathy explores language as a bridge between cultural identity and human connection. This three-piece installation invites viewers to engage with the interplay of Farsi and English, revealing hidden meanings through light and reflection. Each piece represents a key concept:
-Love-
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences penetrate walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”
Maya Angelou –
– Sympathy-
“May our empathy be a beacon of light, guiding us through the darkness of misunderstanding. For in the warmth of sympathy, we illuminate the path to unity.”
Walt Whitman –
– Dialogue –
“In the dialogue of cultures, let us listen not just with our ears, but with our hearts. For in the exchange of stories, we find the melody of understanding.”
Robert Frost –
The Farsi and English words remain concealed until light is projected onto them, casting shadows that reveal the English poems below. This interplay of shadow and reflection symbolizes the complexities of translation, cultural fusion, and the act of understanding across linguistic barriers.
By interacting with the work, viewers navigate the relationship between language, perception, and empathy, highlighting how meaning emerges only when actively sought. In times of obscurity, Echoes of Empathy reminds us of design’s power to foster communication and human connection beyond words.
