Flowing Boundaries
Life changes for immigrants involve adapting to a new culture and environment, often requiring modifications in lifestyle to align with the norms and expectations of contemporary society. These changes-whether voluntary or involuntary-manifest across various aspects of life, including language, social interactions, and lifestyle choices. Over time, immigrants navigate this transformation by integrating new customs, adopting different communication styles, and reshaping their daily lives through shifts in clothing, food preferences, and leisure activities.
In Flowing Boundaries, I borrowed a geometric shape from my cultural heritage, which gradually transforms into a western geometric shape, maintaining the same underlying structure. This visual transformation reflects the journey of cultural adaptation, blending elements of my Persian and Islamic background with contemporary artistic influences. Through this work, I aim to illustrate the dynamic process of cultural transformation, both personal and universal, as one evolves within a new environment while retaining the essence of their origins.
